I really, really hate to bring this one up yet again. But at this point my question is: Can I just manually install the downloaded FOF 4.0.5 and Admin Tools Pro 6.0.4 packages on top of the current installation?

I've read tickets 34920, 34931, 34918, 34937, 34956, and followed all directions--three times--in https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/update.html#dlid-change-after-update. I have two sites hosted at the same provider, and both are displaying the same behavior for the first time (sites are over two years old). Each of these is using an add-on download ID specific to each site, so I don't know if that might be causing a problem, but it never has before.

I suspect it's just the Joomla! glitch that Nicholas has already described in detail several times. But I can't find a way around it. Considering how integral Admin Tools Pro is to the sites, I just wanted to check if I would break anything (settings, configurations, activity history, etc.) if I just go ahead and manually install FOF v4.0.5 and Admin Tools Pro v6.0.4.

Thanks! And, again, sorry to be pain with this same issue.

P.S. Yeah; I know about the PHP version; but that's administratively controlled by the hosting provider. Hopefully they'll update it soon.

I really, really hate to bring this one up yet again. But at this point my question is: Can I just manuallyinstall the downloaded FOF 4.0.5 and Admin Tools Pro 6.0.4 packages on top of the current installation?

Yes, you can.

First, install FOF 4.0.5. This should be installable through Joomla's Extensions, Update page. It does not require a Download ID. If this results in an error you have a server issue; skip to the last paragraph.

Then go to Components, Admin Tools. This page triggers new code we added in FOF 4.0.5 which updates the Download IDs in Joomla's #__update_sites AND #__updates tables (the latter is the major change and the issue I was talking about in previous tickets).

You should now be able to install the update to Admin Tools through Joomla's Extensions, Update page as long as your Download ID is correct and corresponds to a user account with a currently active subscription which allows access to Admin Tools Professional — such as your own. The only issue you might run into is a server issue which prevents Joomla from retrieving the update ZIP file from our site. Typically these issues are either some kind of firewall for outbound connections (do note that we started using CloudFlare in September 2020 which means that our server's IP may appear to change over time depending on which CloudFlare edge node your server is connecting to) or PHP versions with very old OpenSSL versions linked to them which do not support the new, stronger SSL certificates we have been using the past two or so years.

If this didn't help you can definitely update Admin Tools manually as has been the case with every Joomla extension since Joomla 1.5.5. Download Admin Tools Professional 6.0.4. Install the downloaded ZIP file using the Extensions, Install, Upload and Install, twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between.

Many, many thanks, Nicholas! Sorry to be so late getting back here and closing this ticket; COVID finally caught me.  :-/
