Description of my issue: Hello Joomla has announced an update 3.10.1 in preparation for eventual Joomla 4. For this update it is checking for compatibility and highighting any component/extension/library which is either incompatible or if information is not available with Joomla. The following libraries show up:

1 ) F0F (NEW) DO NOT REMOVE - Site Library revAA17947 2016-05-12

2 ) file_fof30 - Site File 3.8.1 2021-08-12

What should be the action for these? Will these be compatible with Joomla 3.10.1 and eventually Joomla 4?

Thanks Nick. I read your detailed post and very informative. Just to reconfirm - it will be safe for me (with respect to akeeba backup component) to update joomla to ver 3.10.1 even thought Joomla says no compatibility information available for the above mentioned list. What about F0F (NEW) DO NOT REMOVE - Site Library revAA17947 2016-05-12 - The date for this is quite old 2016..

P.S. - As of now I am getting ready to update to J3.10.1 and I will wait for some more time before moving to J4

You have not told me which version of Akeeba Backup you have installed so I can't tell you if it will be compatible with Joomla 3.10. Akeeba Backup 8.0.9 and later 8.x versions are compatible with Joomla 3.10.

Regarding F0F and file_fof30, install the Magic Eraser file linked to in the article. It will remove them both. We have not used the former since 2015 and we have not used the latter since March 2021.

When you eventually upgrade to Joomla 4 you will be asked to upgrade to Akeeba Backup 9, our Joomla 4-only version. I agree that right now is not the time for most people to upgrade existing sites to Joomla 4 since very few third party extensions are compatible with it. Not everyone was as crazy as we are to start work on Joomla 4 compatibility since Joomla 4 alpha 2 back in November 2017 :) Most extensions β€” at least those which will be realistically ported to Joomla 4 β€” will be rewritten over the next 6 months. If something isn't compatible with Joomla 4 by May 2022 chances are it will never be compatible with Joomla 4.
