Can you please explain the best way to remove/uninstall Akeeba Backup Pro 7.5.0.1 after installing Akeeba Backup for Joomla 4 and transferring the settings over on a Joomla 4x site?

Thank you.

I am a bit confused by the version numbers stated in this ticket. So I'll give you the longer approach which will work even if you still have Akeeba Backup 7.

Go to our Downloads page.

Download the latest Akeeba Backup 8 package. It is listed as a Joomla 3 version but it's actually compatible with Joomla 4 for the purpose of updating your site to Joomla 4.

Install Akeeba Backup 8 on your site.

PLEASE DO NOT SKIP OVER THESE STEPS ABOVE β€” THEY ARE CRITICAL FOR THE NEXT STEPS TO WORK CORRECTLY!

Go to our Downloads page again.

Download the latest Akeeba Backup 9 package. It is listed as a Joomla 4 package.

Install Akeeba Backup 9 on your site.

Go to Components, Akeeba Backup for Joomla.

You will see a big notice to migrate your settings from Akeeba Backup 8. Click the button to run the migration.

If you get an error, retry the previous step.

Follow the instructions in the note to remove Akeeba Backup 8 from your site.

Thanks for your reply.

My apologies, I did have version 8.0.10 installed but although I amended it in the x.y.z. part I forgot to change it in the actual post text.

Part of the problem was that on this particular website I was still on an old Beta version of Joomla 4 (#6). I had wanted to Install the new Akeeba first but I don't think it was compatible.

I upgraded to Joomla 4.0.3 first and then followed your instructions and this has worked, however, I still got a warning message as shown on the attached screenshot.

This is normal and nothing to worry about.

When we move all of our Joomla 4 software away from our FOF and FEF frameworks we will provide an update which will allow you to uninstall them manually. We expect this to happen around the end of 2022.
