This Log is copied from the shell terminal. No Log seems to habe benn generated (dowloaded logs from the plugin are a week old).

A manual backup from the backend works without errors.

  ~ $ /usr/bin/php7.4 /home/----/public_html/2017.beracom.de/cli/akeeba-backup.php

It looks like you are missing some tiles form your installation which are only used by the CLI scripts and the frontend backup methods (legacy frontend backup URL and the JSON API). Sometimes Joomla forget to copy files when it updates an extension, this is a known issues since Joomla 1.5 but it's so rare that it's virtually impossible to debug. There is a workaround, though. Please install Akeeba Backup twice in a row without uninstalling it before or in between to convince Joomla to copy all the missing files.

Thank you for your reply.

I've installed pkg_akeeba-8.1.8-core.zip twice in a row without uninstalling it before or in between. Unfortunately the error persists.

Well, Akeeba Backup Core (the free of charge version) does NOT have the CLI backup feature and its supporting files. Only the Professional version does. You installed twice in a row a package which does not contain the missing files. This explains why I see a mishmash of files in your error messages. The cli/akeeba-backup.php file appears to be from a version that's at least 17 months old.

Please install Akeeba Backup PROFESSIONAL 8.1.8 twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between.

You're welcome! Thank you for being precise in which file you installed twice, it really helped me take this to the right direction :)

Have a great day!
