EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 10MiB, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

I ve up-graded the last Akeeba version but then on my MAMP PRO everything work fine as usual but then when connecting to my localhost a new message appears. That wasn't the case before ! Is there something new or do you have any clue about that matter ?

See below the message when taping the url

Error: Failed to start application: Could not connect to MySQL server.

Many Thanks

I think you are missing quite a lot of information in your description.

The message comes from Joomla and it means that it cannot connect to your database. This is NOT something that has anything to do with Akeeba Backup.

There are exactly two possible reasons for this:

  • The configuration.php information for connecting to the database are incorrect. This can be because you modified your configuration.php file or because you misconfigured MySQL on MAMP Pro. The latter is NOT something our software could ever interfere with. Regarding the former, the configuration.php would only be modified when restoring a backup. Then again, if you had given it the wrong database connection information it would have shown you an error restoring the site as our restoration script would be unable to connect to MySQL and warn you about it.
  • You have changed the PHP version of your site. Do remember that each PHP version has a different configuration. If you have not enabled the PDO MySQL and MySQLi extensions for that PHP version Joomla will be unable to connect to the database server.

Also note that it's also possible that your PHP server is not currently running because of a conflict on your computer. Check the MAMP Pro panel to ensure that it's running. Do keep in mind that for connecting to the database 127.0.0.1 and localhost mean different things; the former connects through TCP/IP port 3306, the latter tries to connect through a named pipe (without going through the TCP/IP stack).

Thank for your answer but

1 / I haven't change anything but augrading your latest version. Ans as I am used to backup my site and restore it on my computer as localhost to implement my site, No problem came from restoring it and the screen to see my front and back-end appears perfectly. It anly when clicking on one of those solution that came the problem.

2 / I haven't changed the version of the PHP and it still work fine on a previous version of my doxnloaded site ( Just few days before ). So that was the purpose of my question. Only component that have upgraded was Akeeba. When using the FTP flies i can access to the decompressed file of the new local website but the page doesn't appears

Is that help ?

No, it does not help for the simple reason that the error message comes from Joomla long before it tries to load any extensions. As I already explained, the error message means that Joomla cannot connect to your database server. This is entirely controlled by your database server's configuration, your site's configuration.php and the PHP extensions loaded on the version of PHP you are using on your site. None of these three items can possibly be affected by Akeeba Backup. So you are definitely missing something else you have done which you obviously either don't remember or are unaware that you did. I cannot tell you what it is because I am not you and I don't have your computer in front of me.
