One of my sites gives me this - again, same configuration as the ones that work fine:
Fatal error: Call to a member function enqueueMessage() on a non-object in /(path to site)/home/libraries/joomla/error/error.php on line 480

When do you get this message? During the backup? If so, does the backup produce a log? If so, please zip and post it.

since it's run as a cron job, I have the results that it emails me, attached...TEXT

The actual Akeeba backup log may be helpful as well. Please zip and post it. The CRON job was trying to give an error message, but the format of the error wasn't what it expected. This wouldn't be the same site as the ftp error would it? I'll flag this one for Nicholas too.
