Hi there, trying to update inside Akeeba Pro, but I get the nmessage below. I do have a valid subscription and my username and password from that are entered. Any ideas? here's hoping...

You have to specify your AkeebaBackup.com username and password in the component's parameters for the update to work!

I have the same problem.

on 2 of my sites I got the following messages :
Pour pouvoir effectuer la mise à jour, spécifiez votre identifiant et mot de passe AkeebaBackup.com dans les paramètres du composant.

Information de mise à jour non disponible.

These sites have the Akeeba Pro

On another site with Akeeba Backup 3.0 (2010-06-11) (core version) I get the following message :
Update information not available

On the first two sites I think that the error message is very clear. Go to the component's Control Panel page. Look on the top right corner. There is a Parameters icon. Click it. Towards the bottom there are two fields for your AkeebaBackup.com username and password. Enter this information and click on the Save button. Now retry going to the update page. It should work.

Regarding the other site, ask your host to open a firewall connection to AkeebaBackup.com on ports 80 and 443 (HTTP and HTTPS communications, respectively) and to JoomlaCode.org on port 80.

Hi, I've already entered my username and password from the akeeba account, but I still get the error message I mentioned. Should've said, I get the "Update information not available" message as well. Ideas?

Would your firewall suggestion fix both of these messages?

The two issues are unrelated. Normally, once you have entered your username and password the warning message should go away. Can you send me Super Admin info to your site (and its URL) in a Personal Message so that I can take a look?

Ah, I figured this out, thanks for the login info. There was a big change in our servers which broke the updates. You have to upgrade those sites manually to 3.1.rc1. Just download the Pro package on your local computer and use Joomla!'s extension installer to install it on top of the existing Akeeba Backup installation. This should solve that issue.

I just upgraded to Akeeba Backup Professional 3.1.rc1 (2010-08-30) and the updater still does not work. I double check my credentials also.

Same here, I upgraded by downloading and using the joomla installer. It shows as Akeeba Backup Professional 3.1.rc1 (2010-08-30), but when I click the Check for upgrades button, I get the same problem as before.

Thanks for your tireless work Nicholas!

I was, finally, able to reproduce the problem - by disconnecting my Internet connection. Due to an oversight, if Akeeba Backup can not fetch the update information it reports that you have not entered your username and password. Oops! This will be fixed in the stable release.

Meanwhile, make sure that your sites can access our update services. Tell your hosts to open their firewall for TCP/IP connections to AkeebaBackup.com on ports 80 and 443. That should do the trick.

Hi, I got this from my host people...
80 and 443 are open for use from the server we are able to get to the server listed in the comments.

Still get the problem though sorry.

Can you send me a PM with Super Admin credentials to your site (and your site's URL) so that I can replicate and fix it?

I tried to upgrade to the new version (with the automatic update).

I get this message on the first site I tried :

JFolder::files: Path is not a folder

JFolder::folder: Path is not a folder

JFolder::files: Path is not a folder

ERRORNOTFINDJOOMLAXMLSETUPFILE

Impossible d'extraire le pack de mise à jour.

Vérifiez que vous possédez bien les droits d'écriture sur le répertoire temporaire utilisé pour la mise à jour.

Vous pouvez également tenter d'appliquer la mise à jour manuellement.:

It's an improvement since last week where I got that I was not allowed to upgrade (I got my name and password in the parameter of Akkeba)

Tell me if you need an admin access, I will send you by private message

best regards

Michel

The updater in the 3.1 betas and RC is broken. It is fixed in the stable release. Unfortunately, this means that you have to upgrade manually. Well, "manually" is an overstatement. All you have to do is download the 3.1 Pro stable package and install it like any other Joomla! extension. IMPORTANT: Do not uninstall the previous Akeeba Backup version before installing the new one!
