Description of my issue:

Hello. We are having several problems after downgrading from a new server with Debian 9 to our previous server with Debian 7, This donwgrade was necessary in order to mantain stability because the new server gave us error 503 in several webs and we migrated to the old server again (where everything was working fine). From then, Akeeba Backup shows the error that you can see in the attachmets. We are taking in about 40 webs, some of them quite big. They all were working fine with Akeeba backup 7.1.4 before the first migration to the new server, but they have these troubles when returned to the original server.

In some cases we have uninstall Akeeba, but then we have seen that we cannot install it again. It shows: "unexpected syntax error", or in other cases there is a message saying "internal server error". I have attached two samples of errors.

Hope you can help us because we really need Akeeba working again. Let us know if you need access to check anything.

Regards

F. J. Villalba

Hello,

the problem is caused by your PHP version; FOF library (used by all Akeeba software) requires at least PHP version 7.1, otherwise some features will be unavailable, resulting in syntax errors.

Please update your PHP version to 7.1 and your problem will be fixed.

For what it's worth, PHP 7.1 and 7.0 are very similar, so your update should be very straightforward.

Hello:

In some of the websites we cannot install php 7.1, but they were working fine with Akeeba 7.1.4. Now cannot even install 6.4.0. See the screenshot, please.

Yes, you have found yourself in a weird situation. Since current FOF version is more recent than the one you want to install, it's not overwritten.

What you have to do is manually rename the folder libraries/fof30 under your site root. Then try to install Akeeba Backup 6.4.0.

Now everything should be working fine and then you can delete the folder you renamed before.
