For some reason ABP 7.3.1 is installed on the website (which seems to be a development release according to ABP itself, note this is important for later). Running a backend CLI with 7.3.1 works fine. Yesterday however i was prompted to update to 7.3.2. Which i did. Backend CRON tasks now no longer work and generate an error.

The error is as follows (or at least the part i can see from the plesk backend. Plesk hasn't sent an email report yet)

********** ERROR! **********

Modifying absolutely nothing EXCEPT reinstalling 7.3.1 restores CLI backup functionality. Please let me know if you need more info.

There is a bug in Akeeba Backup 7.3.2 which only affects the CLI backups (akeeba-backup.php). A new version, 7.3.2.1, is now released which addresses the issue. Upgrading to it will fix the CLI backups.

In 7.3.2 I changed the way the default description is generated for all backups, regardless of their source (CLI, backend, frontend, remote JSON API). This code requires the backup engine to be loaded. The CLI script was trying to get the default description before the backup engine is loaded, causing a PHP fatal error. The new version 7.3.2.1 correctly loads the backup engine before trying to get the default backup description, addressing the issue.

Superb, looks like i was the first to reports it but not the only one. Thanks for the quick support. Updating right now

Oh and i'd love to read your rant about hardcoded WP urls here ;) https://www.akeeba.com/support/akeeba-solo/Ticket/33690:host-transfer-of-wp.html

You're welcome :)

I won't share my opinion about WordPress. I will only tell you that I understand why it's popular, but so is McDonald's and Starbucks. I don't judge and I still write software for WordPress and occasionally go to McD and Starbucks. They're just not my first, second or fifth choice for site software, meals and coffee respectively.

I never used WP, and don't plan to unless J! stops entirely :). Maybe one day we'll bump into each other on a J! conference. Thats on my bucketlist. Case closed!
