I am getting this error page when I attempt to accesss Akeeba Backup.  The header is this:

Akeeba Backup - An unhandled Exception has been detectedAkeeba Backup - An unhandled Exception has been detected500Call to undefined method FOF30\Platform\Joomla\Platform::addScriptOptions()

I've attached a PDF of the page.

I did some research in the forums and found a thread which gave a link to a lib_fof30-3.6.0.zip file which I downloaded and attempted to install but got this message as shown in the screenshot link below.

The problem is, as you correctly surmised, that some files are missing from FOF 3's installation in libraries/fof30.

You actually need a newer version of FOF 3 than what you tried to use :) The latest version can be found at https://www.akeeba.com/download.html Scroll down and find the latest FOF release. Download the ZIP file and install it on your site. This should fix the issue.

I downloaded lib_fof30-3.7.1.zip and attempted to install but got the same warning.

I did NOT attempt to uninstall FOF as it stated to not uninstall or it would break the site.  I've attached the updated page when I went to Akeeba Backup component.

Download FOF. Extract it on your computer. You will see a folder named fof which has been extracted. Rename it to fof30. Upload this folder into the libraries folder of your site, overwriting the existing fof30 folder.
