Description of my issue:

Up to Akeeba V8.0.11 it was, and still is possible to format the comment section of a backup

with the help of a WYSIWYG editor like TinyMCE of JCE.

Since Akeeba 9.0.0 and later this feature is'nt there anymore, or did I miss some setting somewhere ?

I use the comment section to list differences in software versions between the current and previous backup.

It is much more readable if we can make it a buletted list.

Kind regards,

Johan.

Akeeba Backup 8 is most definitely using a plain text area in the Backup Now page and this goes back to 2016 or even earlier — I didn't look more than 6 ½ years into the past.

The edit comment page did use a WYSIWYG editor but this caused some security concerns. As a result, we removed it. The only improvement I can think of is using nl2br when displaying it so that line breaks are kept.

Nicolas,

I thought it was clear from my post, I'm talking about editing the comments after the backup is done.

As you say this was never possible via the "Backup now" page.

It's a pitty that this usefull feature has to go for security reasons. nl2br would be an improvment for

readability.

Thanks and regards,

Johan.

It wasn't clear what you meant. You said “comment section of a backup” and I could read it either way, hence the clarification.

I will add an action item in our to-do list to add the nl2br for readability purposes when displaying the comment.

I just installed Akeeba V9.0.7, and see that the nl2br feature is already included.

Thanks for your effort.
