This is a general question regarding Akeeba backup and WordPress multi-sites. I am running the latest version of everything and have no issues with the normal wp site.

However I am trying to move and restore on another host, it has the multi-site feature enabled.

I have installed Akeeba and backed-up and restored but the multi-site function does not work. As soon as I edit the config.php and remove the option for multi-site i.e "false" the main site comes up restored but the other 3 sites under neath this are no longer operating.

Can you please send some instruction about how to backup and restore multi-site wordpress sites.

Regards
Mike

Hello Mike,

This feature is being implemented in the upcoming version of Akeeba Backup for WordPress. I am trying to release it today or, if I don't make it, tomorrow morning (GMT+3 timezone, I guess I am 6 to 8 hours ahead of your timezone?).

If you are using the multisite feature included with WordPress itself you will be able to backup and restore WordPress Multisite sites without the need to do anything special. If you are using third party plugins which distribute the multisite databases to different MySQL databases and/or mess around with the domain names, unfortunately we can't help much :( These plugins tend to store their configuration in various odd places, meaning that you'll have to do the reconfiguration of the restored site manually (unless, of course, you are restoring to the exact same server and user account you backed up from).

When you will be restoring the site you will be asked for the URLs of each one of the multisites. This is required for us to reconfigure them and fix the links inside each multisite. You have to make sure that whatever you're using there resolves on the new server. Again, this only makes a difference if you are not restoring to the same server and/or user account as the one you backed up from.

So, just a few more hours of patience :)

Excellent! Thanks Nicholas! I

Look forward to the update.

The site I am working on does not use third party plugins and simply has 3 sites acting as different languages editions that are not necessarily translations of the original site and content.

So I expect with the new feature added to Akeeba for WordPress I should not have any difficulty moving the whole site and domain to a new server and use Angie to restore.

Once again thanks for all your hard work and support. We also Use Akeeba For Joomla all the

Hello Mike,

OK, this sounds like the use case I tested against during development :) I couldn't make the release today, so just a few more hours of patience.
