Hi great team,
On one site I get an error on the plug-ins page when I activate Akeeba.
All themes/plugins are up-to-date

Error: "Notice: Use of undefined constant CURLOPT_ACCEPT_ENCODING - assumed 'CURLOPT_ACCEPT_ENCODING' in /home/albus006/domains/stadseboerenoss.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/akeebabackupwp/app/Awf/Download/Adapter/Curl.php on line 89"
(and line 91)

Do you have an idea?
I can send login details.

Hello,

thank you very much for your report.
It seems that your server is missing the constant CURLOPT_ACCEPT_ENCODING , I have just deployed a workaround for that.
Please download and install the latest dev release and try again, that should fix your issue.

Yes Davide that works! Thanks.

Should I contact the hosting company about this issue?

You could, but that's pretty hard that the host would fix it. However you could give it a try and ask the host to investigate why the missing constant.

strangely enough it is on a server where I have several sites (reseller package) but other sites don't have this problem

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure of the cause of this issue.
cURL feature is an external library, that has bindings inside the PHP code. This means that cURL and PHP versions could mismatch (ie cURL supports some feature of which PHP is unaware of and viceversa).
I suspect your PHP version on that specific site has an older library of cURL, where such constant is not defined.

In my opinion, is way faster and easier to workaround this issue rather than trying to fix the original cause, since there could be thousands reasons.

I understand Davide, thanks.

Last question, what about updates now I have installed a dev version?

Akeeba Staff
There are no problems.
Akeeba Backup will always warn you to update to a "stable release", since you're in dev.
You simply have to wait for the next stable version to come out and install it.
