I've enabled the reply by email feature and created a cron job to execute the mail fetching script every 5 mins.

The Gmail box access settings seem to be correct and have been tested from an email client.
When the cron job is manually ran, the following output is displayed.

root@li278-95:~# php /path/to/cli/ats-mail-fetch.php
Akeeba Ticket System -- Fetch email for the Reply By Email feature

Preparing to check for email
You have new mail in /var/mail/root

No tickets are added to ATS.

Environment:
Joomla 2.5.14
ATS Pro 1.2.3
Gmail (POP, Port 995, SSL, TLS whenever possible)

Hello Nuno,

did you check the option in ATS params to inform the component that you're using GMail?
Are you using an alias or a dedicated email address?

Looking at the code, there isn't such a message like You have new mail in XXX, you should see this message if everything is ok Email was successfully fetched.

Do you have more chronjobs that start at the same time?

I'm using a dedicated gmail box.
Both POP3 and IMAP have been enabled.

There is another cron job running every 5 minutes, but I don't think it poses an issue at this point.
The script is not fetching anything when i run it manually.

"You have new mail" is a harmless internal message the OS throws at the command prompt once in a while. Does not influence the issue reported in this ticket one bit.

Should the "Akeeba Ticket System reply by email" be switched on?
Don't think it's necessary for the CLI script to work-

In the attached screenshot you can see the most relevant settings.

Please, enable that flag, too.
Can you check if you got any error in your php log?
You should have an exit message, not just the first one.

I was missing the php5-imap extension.
Case closed :)
