 Hello!

Is there any configuration setting to define or restrict the ticket message lenght?

I have not lauched ATS yet to public, but there is a real cenario where some of my clients will place VERY lengthy messages, like 3-4 MSWord pages, maybe even more, followed by a not-so-specific question.

As so far I plan to charge the same amount of credits for any question, without extra credits charge, have some type of control would be good.

Another idea would be to have, as joomla articles, displayed the number of typed words. I could then instruct users to limit themselves to a max. number of words.

OBS: I always find very useful to read other user's posts. There was one guy that charged extra credits, based on extra numbers of hours. That also would be an idea for me, I am considering it. Nicholas, maybe you could create a public ticket category for us - your #1 fans - to share our successful histories! There we could also learn with each other...

Best regards!

Word counters are notoriously taxing on client-side resources. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you ever try replying to tickets from an underpowered mobile device (like my old iPad 2) you will see how unusable it becomes. Moreover the word counter is very problematic in non-Western languages like Hebrew, Chinese or Japanese. Linking that to the ability to post a ticket / reply or charging credits becomes a huge problem very fast. As a result I've decided not to implement this feature request.

After all, that's why the extra credits charge was created for. If you have a client like this charge him extra credits (make sure your terms of service mention this possibility to avoid problems). I think it's a fair trade-off: those who take disproportionate amounts of your time get to pay a lot.
