I'm developing a new site and want to work on it at home and in the office, so I need two versions.
I was advised to use Joomlapack which worked beautifully to create a backup.

However, I've been trying for hours to install Kickstart to do the Restore

I downloaded Kickstart-2.4.1.zip but cannot get it to work.

I've tried installing it using the Joomla Extensions Installer

I've tried unzipping it to various places but no luck

It seems such a simple thing to get stuck at - can anybody help?

Kickstart doesn't install, it is an extraction tool to assist you in restoring your site. Just upload your backup archive and kickstart.php to the folder where you want the root of your site to be and call kickstart in your browser, www.mysite.com/kickstart.php. There are a lot of options, most of them are for special situations. For now, just press the big green button and go. If you have any problems, post back and we'll see which of those options you need to get past it. :D
