Yes, it is supported. When you are linking Akeeba Backup to your Google Drive account you will see a list of drives. Select your shared drive there.

Please note that you will need to be given adequate permissions by your team organizer to list and write to the shared drive (formerly: Team Drive).

I see that your subscription expired on June 5th 2017. The very old version of Akeeba Backup Professional you must be currently using does not support shared drives. Please purchase a new subscription and download and install the latest version of Akeeba Backup Professional on your site.

Furthermore, the screenshot you sent me was from the OAuth2 page on Google's site which only links Akeeba Backup to Google Drive. After you accept that you go back to Akeeba Backup where you can select a drive. However, this requires a newer version of Akeeba Backup than the one that was available two years ago. Akeeba Backup didn't support shared drives two years ago. Moreover, Google changed their Google Drive API in June 2019 which means that Akeeba Backup versions older than 6.6 won't work with shared drives. Hence the need to upgrade Akeeba Backup before doing anything else.

If you need further help using this feature we will be happy to assist you as long as you have an active subscription and post your support request in the support category for Akeeba Backup for Joomla.

Hello yes, you are probably right about the version, need to upgrade. Before the upgrade, I see one thing and wonder is that also with the latest version or is it only bug solved after mine version.
I have ANGIE Password for backup JPA format, but, with Desktop Akeeba backup wizard I can extract files without any password.

Do note that the Google Drive behavior is not a bug as I thoroughly explained earlier. The matter of fact is that Google changed their API. Our software was changed to accommodate for that change and in advance for that change. We can not and do not republish old versions with new third party API implementations. We publish new versions instead. This is standard practice in software development.

Regarding the "JPA password", it's also not a bug. The feature is actually called "ANGIE password" and as the name implies and we explicitly document it is used to put a password in the restoration script (ANGIE) which is included in the backup archive. In case it's still not clear: when you launch the ANGIE restoration script (after you have extracted the unencrypted JPA backup archive) the web interface of the ANGIE restoration script will ask you to enter the ANGIE password to proceed. This feature is only meant to prevent people coming to your site from seeing the restoration interface. It is a good idea to use no matter which archive format you're using (JPA, ZIP or JPS) if you intend to restore your backup archives on a live server that other people could conceivably access while the restoration is in progress.

Do note that the ANGIE password feature does not encrypt your backup archives or otherwise protect your data in rest or in transit. If you want the entire backup archive to be encrypted e.g. to meet GDPR requirements about backup storage you need to use the JPS (encrypted backup archives) format. This feature is available in the Professional release only.

Finally, please note that Akeeba eXtract (what you mistakenly called "Desktop Akeeba backup wizard") has been discontinued since November 2018.

Ok, I see.
If I backup my site with JPS and add the password to it, can I use that JSP file to restore directly from the web interface like I was doing with JPA or need to extract JPS locally on PC and upload to site using FTP

Yes, you can restore your backups through Akeeba Backup's interface.

I will answer this question in more detail assuming that you are using the JPS backup format and, most importantly, you will be storing all your backup archives to Google Drive.

First, you'd need to go to the Manage Backups page and find the backup you want to restore. Since it's stored in Google Drive you need to fetch it back to your server. Click the Manage Remote Files button and click Fetch Back. Wait until it tells you it's all done. Clicking Close will reload the Manage Backups page.

Now you can select the backup record in Manage Backups and click on Restore. The interface will prompt you for your JPS password (just like Kickstart would do -- in fact the integrated restoration is just a different UI for Kickstart's archive extraction engine). Now your backup archive extracts and the rest of the process is exactly as shown in our video tutorial.
