For the purposes of restoring a backup from a backup archive already uploaded to your server you should use Kickstart Core, not Professional.

Upload kickstart.php in the web root of your site. It's the same folder Joomla's index.php would go into. On most hosts it's called public_html, hotdogs or www when connecting to your site by FTP or SFTP. If you are not sure which folder that is, please do ask your host.

If you have a .htaccess file already in the site's root, e.g. because you previously had installed Joomla in it, do remove it first. This file is hidden by default. You may have to check an option in your FTP/SFTP programme or your hosting control panel's file manager to show you hidden files before you can see and remove it.

Let's make sure we're on the same page.

Download Kickstart Core 7.0.4 from https://www.akeeba.com/download/akeeba-kickstart/7-0-4/kickstart-core-7-0-4-zip.zip

Extract this ZIP file. It has two files, kickstart.php and en-GB.kickstart.ini in it. So, most definitely, kickstart.php is in that file.

Copy the kickstart.php file to your site and read my previous reply again.

I appreciate your help and now I know why I couldn't see the file, it was noted as Notepad ++ because I used it before to edit a file, Thanks again!

  • templates/beez3/index.php
  • templates/beez3/error.php
  • templates/beez3/component.php
  • templates/joomla3_005/index.php
  • templates/joomla3_005/component.php
  • templates/protostar/index.php
  • templates/protostar/error.php
  • templates/protostar/component.php
  • templates/system/index.php
  • templates/system/error.php
  • templates/system/component.p

Components, Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF. Click on the Hardening Options tab.

Find the “Monitor Critical Files” option. Set it to No.

Click on Save & Close.

Go again to Components, Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF. Click on the Hardening Options tab.

Find the “Monitor Critical Files” option. Set it to Yes.

Click on Save & Close.

Why this happens: The critical files monitoring feature stores the checksums and last modification date of the critical files of your site, the files you got an email for. Since you restored your site the checksums are the same BUT the last modification date changed to the date of restoring the backup. Therefore Admin Tools now sees that these files are inexplicably modified which is why it keeps emailing you about them.

Disabling and re-enabling this feature instructs Admin Tools to clear its cache of critical files and rebuild it. This means that it will recalculate the checksums and last modified dates of these files to match what is currently on your server. Therefore it will stop detecting them as modified and this results in no further emails being sent to you.
