On Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 we'll be moving to a new server.

Over the last two and a half years we've been hosting our official site on a reseller account which the Rochen folks so generously donated to us. Over the last two years we have witnessed an unbelievable growth of our traffic by an overwhelming 24 times (that's 2400% in two years and, no, it's not a typo). Over the last year alone our site traffic grew in excess of 200%. We recently realized that the trusted reseller account had eventually become one size too small. You may have already witnessed it yourself, receiving sporadic "Database connection error" messages when trying to access our forum or downloads area.

Thankfully, the Rochen folks are proving once again their generosity and active support towards the Free Software community. They are donating a Managed Virtual Server to our project, an amazing £1200 / year donation. I would like to personally thank Chris Adams for his generosity and on-going support, as well as Adam Boswel for handling my requests and providing the most accurate and timely support whenever I requested it.

Due to the imminent relocation, our site will remain off-line for a short period on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 from 08:00 GMT to 14:00 GMT. During that time window our download and support infrastructure will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by that.

If you receive the off-line page after that date when visiting our site, please try clearing your browser cache, restart your computer (if you're using Windows or have a caching nameserver installed) or your DSL router. We expect a few hiccups during the first hours following the relocation, especially with the SSL certificate. Don't be shy; if you find any issues, report them on our forum or, if it's not possible, on Twitter by mentioning @akeebabackup or @nikosdion.
