Akeeba Remote Control 4.0.8 (Stable) released with exciting new features!

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Remote Control 4.0.8 (Stable), the first stable version of the 4.x branch of our famous remote backup application. Akeeba Remote Control (or ARC, for short) is a cross-platform desktop application for Windows XP or later, Mac OS X Leopard or later and modern 32-bit and 64-bit Linux platforms which allows you to backup your web sites with a single click.

This version includes a number of long-sought improvements requested by our international user community. For starters, we have a vastly improved download feature which now supports big backup archives and delivers a 3x speed improvement over the previous versions. Another exciting new feature is the ability to remotely update Akeeba Backup from within ARC itself! When a new Akeeba Backup version is released, you will see an "Update Akeeba Backup" button in ARC. Just click on it and Akeeba Backup will update itself. Even better, especially useful if you have several dozens of sites, you can select them all and click on "Update Akeeba Backup". ARC will proceed to update your Akeeba Backup installation on all of your sites, putting an end to the reasonable and long standing complain that updating Akeeba Backup takes a very long time when you have a large number of sites.

Akeeba Remote Control is provided free of charge to all users, no matter if they are subscribers or not. You can download it from our Downloads area. Please make sure that you also download and read the Quick Start Guide PDF file accompanying the software. It's only 4 pages and documents all known installation and operation issues that you may stumble on. If you like the software, please consider donating a small amount of money to keep its development active and the software free forever. If you run into an issue, do not hesitate to drop us a line in our forum, including your ARC and Akeeba Backup log files so that we can better help you. Likewise, we are open to suggestions for improvements and new features! Don't be shy, just tell us through our forum and we'll take your suggestions very seriously.

Happy backing up!
