Akeeba Subscriptions 2.2.1 just released.

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Subscriptions 2.2.1 Stable, a maintenance release in our 2.2.x series.

Akeeba Subscriptions 2.2.1 resolves some known issues in version 2.2.0 and adds a few new features. This release is compatible only with Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5.

Compatible with Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5, it allows you to easily sell subscriptions on your site. Sounds too good to be true? Akeeba Subscriptions is the subscriptions management component for choice for major Joomla! component developers such as NoNumber, Compojoom and ACL Manager – and it's completely free of charge!

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL JOOMLA! USERS: Joomla! 1.5, deprecated since January 2012, will become end-of-life by the end of August 2012. As a result, we've become creating Joomla! 2.5-only versions of our software. The next release of Akeeba Subscriptions will be compatible only with Joomla! 2.5 and will no longer ship with integration plugins relevant to Joomla! 1.5-only software, such as the JUGA plugin. Users of Akeeba Subscriptions on Joomla! 1.5.x will still be supported till August. From that point onwards we will completely drop Joomla! 1.5 support. You are urged to upgrade your Joomla! 1.5 sites to Joomla! 2.5.

As always, you can get it from our Downloads page. If you have an older version installed, you can simply use the integrated Live Update feature, or Joomla!'s extension updater, to upgrade to the new version painlessly.

While the software is free, its support is not. If you wish to receive support for the software, you will need to buy a MINISUPPORT subscription at 7.79 Euros for an 8-day pass to our dedicated forum section. Alternatively, if you are a subscriber to AKEEBADELUXE or SUPPORT you can request support either through the dedicated support forum section or by submitting a private support ticket.

Supported versions

Our support policy is to provide support only to the latest published stable release of Akeeba Subscriptions, as well as to the latest published preview (alpha, beta or release candidate) release, if one is available. As of this release, only 2.2.0 is supported. If you have 1.x or any older 2.x version installed on your site, please upgrade as soon as possible.

Moreover, we only support the Joomla! versions officially supported by the Joomla! project. Due to the plethora of active Joomla! versions, we have consolidated the support terms for different Akeeba Subscriptions and Joomla! version combinations in the table below:

J! 1.5

J! 1.6 & 1.7

J! 2.5

AS 2.2.1 *

Until August 1st, 2012***

Not supported

Until August 2013 **

Older releases

No longer supported

* Only the latest 2.x release is supported at any time.

** If a new Akeeba Subscriptions series (i.e. 2.3) is released before August 2013, Akeeba Subscriptions 2.2.x will cease being supported, per our support policy stated above.

*** Future versions will drop Joomla! 1.5 support. Users running the latest published version of Akeeba Subscriptions 2.2.x on Joomla! 1.5 will continue to be supported until August 1st. After that point, no support will be provided to Joomla! 1.5 users.

WARNING! Joomla! 1.6 and 1.7 are end-of-life. At the time of this writing, they are affected by a HUGE privilege escalation issue which can be used to easily hack your sites. Unfortunately, we can not support end-of-life, insecure versions of Joomla!. As a result, we strongly recommend upgrading your Joomla! 1.6 and 1.7 sites to the latest published release of Joomla! 2.5. We can no longer provide support for user of Joomla! 1.6 and 1.7 and our software is not supposed to run on these platforms.
