Hi,

I'm starting to support WordPress and am VERY green. I just inherited a site and installed Akeeba Backup for WP Pro. I took the first backup and got a message that it couldn't read a number of files and to check the permissions. One of the files was wp-content/index.php. In cpanel, I see the permission as 1204, which makes no sense to me. The others where wp-content/plugins/index.php (1204), wp-content/themes/index.php (1204) and wp-content/uploads/index.php (1204).

Does this make any sense to you? They should be 644, correct? And folders 755? I am seeing occasional 776, 775 and 777 folders.

Thank you for your insight,
Anne

Hello,

it seems you have some wrong permissions.
You should be able to change them to 644 using Filezilla, if you can't you'll have to contact your host and ask him to review your server permissions.

Thank you -- changed and it works. Just not sure about why those permissions were like that...

For your information, permissions are in octal mode, ie 0644 is the correct form.
1204 is the decimal representation of 644, I think that there was a typo while changing permissions (644 instead of 0644)
