Hi, this isn't a big deal, but I'm just wondering why the latest version of Akeeba Backup for Wordpress (version 2.4.0) isn't showing up in the Wordpress dashboard, or as an available update on the plugins page?

The only place I see it is within the Akeeba Backup dashboard, but if I don't happen to go there, then I don't realise there is a new version of Akeeba Backup available.

Other plugins show a notification on the plugins page, and increment a counter which appears alongside the 'Plugins' menu item in the left hand black column.

Incidentally, the new version availability doesn't show up in Watchful.li for the site either.

Regards
Nicola

Hello,

currently Akeeba Backup is not listed inside Wordpress plugin directory, so I suspect that your wordpress site can't fetch the latest available update and display it to the user.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion: WordPress has a lot of events and hooks, and I can try to find a workaround for that even if we are using a custom update system.
