 Hi Guys,

When we try to reply to a ticket we get a 0 error, I don't think I've come across this error in Joomla before. It's not showing on the hosts error log so I'm assuming we have set a permission badly but we have followed the set up exactly.

I've attached a screen that shows the error.

Just to note, this is happening with all categories including the presale which is far simpler in terms of permissions.

also, if we switch to prostar default template we can see the error...

Any ideas?

we are unable to update to the latest version as it requires php 5.3.4 but we only have an option for 5.3.3, the host is not going to change this.

We have updated other Akeeba software which means that the FOF has been updated, could this be the issue?

If yes, what can we do?

Your version of ATS is not compatible with the FOF version included in Joomla! 3.2.x. Sorry, you'll have to upgrade PHP and your ATS version. It's a good idea upgrading PHP anyway. The version you have was released on July 22nd 2010. That's three and a half years ago. In computer terms, that's an entire lifetime. In the intermediate 25 (yes, twenty five) versions of PHP 5.3 which have been released in those three and a half years there were hundreds of bugs fixed and several security issues patched. You really don't want to run this kind of antiquated PHP version on a live site. If I have not yet convinced you, please note that on PHP 5.3.9 and lower Joomla! uses an insecure, relatively easy to crack encryption method for passwords. Upgrade, for your own security above anything else!

Hi Nicolas,

There is no need to try to convince me, I already know that we need to get php versions updated. The problem we have is that the hosting companies in Ireland don't yet support anything higher than php 5.3.3 and they have only recently upgraded to this. I've contacted several and they tell me there are no immediate plans to update.

I thought I had until J!3.3 came out when support officially drops for 5.3.3, but I guess not.

Can you suggest a good English speaking Joomla host in Europe?

Sure thing. I can suggest two different hosting companies in Europe:

1. SiteGround. All around the best quality host, no matter if you're buying shared hosting, a VPS or a dedicated server.

2. Rochen. They are our current host at the time of this writing. Also a very good host for VPS and dedicated servers, but I would NOT recommend their shared hosting plans.

Both offer servers in both the US and Europe and both are always running the latest PHP versions (with a small delay of a few days as they need to schedule the deployment of new versions when the server load is low, of course). Please remember to specify that you want a European server in your order with them.
