I just installed joomlapack 2.4.1, and created a full backup with success, however when I browsed to "Administer Backup Files" and tried to download it to my computer:
URL: mysite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_joomlapack&view=buadmin&task=download&id=1 , which turned out NOT WORKING at all(with HTTP 500 Internal Server Error).

Apache/2.2.14
Joomla 1.5.14 stable
MySQL 5.0.86
IE: 8

Can anyone help? Thank you!

Rick,

You're getting the 500 error when you enter the Administer Backups screen or when you try to download the file? Either is an odd place to get the 500 error.

There would be more details on the error in the server error log. We will probably need to get the log, there are no "usual suspects" for an error there.

As a work around, you can download your backup file via ftp (in binary mode!), which is the recommended way to download it.

Hi dlb,

Happened when I tried to download the file( mysite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_joomlapack&view=buadmin&task=download&id=1 ), I understand FTP can do the work better, but it was a request from another guy who is managing the site.

Thanks,
-Rick

There is a bug in 2.4.1 (I don't know how far it goes back, 2.4, etc.) that will give problems when the file name being downloaded has a space in it. That bug doesn't usually give a 500 error, it usually gives a "can't find file" message. This bug is fixed in SVN and will be included in the upcoming 2.4.2 release.

If that isn't it, we will need to go to the server error log to try to get more information on the 500 error.
