A unique feature of Akeeba Backup Professional for Joomla s the ability to ensure that a backup is performed every time you update Joomla.
This is a plugin so go to extensions plugins and then search for backup on update.
Click on the name to open the plugin If you have more than one backup profile we need to select which profile we want to use.
Then on the right hand side change the status to enabled.
Click save and close.
At the bottom right of your screen ou should now see a green icon indicating that Backup on Update is enabled and active.
If for any reason you want to disable it you can click on the icon to temporarily disable it.
If I return to my joomla control panel I can see that there is a Joomla update available.
From now on whenever you perform a Joomla update a backup will automatically be performed before the update begins without the need for any interaction.
As soon as the backup completes the update will begin
