If you've made the decision to upgrade your existing Akeeba Backup Core to Akeeba Backup Professional the installation process is fairly simple.

Once you've purchased your subscription to Akeeba Backup Professional log in at the akeebabackup.com web site.

Once you've logged in click on downloads.

Here if we scroll down you can find a Download link to Akeeba Backup Professional.

Download that to your own computer and then extract it.

We now need to transfer these files to our web server To do that I'm going to use an FTP program.

Connect to your site and navigate to the folder where you installed WordPress select wp-content, and then plugins.

Here you can see folders for all the plugins that you have installed on your WordPress site.

It should be obvious which is the# one for Akeeba Backup.

Select that - then select all the files from your computer for Akeeba Backup for WordPress Professional and upload them to this folder.

Make sure that you select to overwrite the existing files.

When that is completed, if we go back to our web site and log in and go to the Akeeba Backup plugin we can see that we now have Akeeba Backup for WordPress Professional installed.

Right at the top we have a message about entering our Download ID This is required for updates to the program so let's go ahead and complete that.

Return to the akeebackup.com web site and make sure that you are logged in.

Select My Subscriptions from the menu.

If you now scroll down you will see your Download ID.

Simply select and copy it.

Return to your web site and paste it in.

and click on Apply download id.

We can see that the message has now disappeared and we have completed the upgrade to Akeeba Backup Professional
