This allows you to use TinyAI with the API of Mistral, a French AI company.

To use TinyAI with Mistral follow these steps:
Log into your Mistral account.
Go to the API keys page under Le Plateforme.
Click on to create a new API key, and note it down.
Wait for 2 to 5 minutes.
You MUST wait for a few minutes after creating a new API key before trying to use it. New API keys are not activated immediately. If you try to use a new API key before it's fully activated on Mistral's side you will experience a broken interface, no models being listed, and possibly other artifacts.
Edit the System - AITiny plugin.
Under AI Service select Mistral.
Enter your API key in the API Key / Token area.
Click on .
When the page reloads, select your Model.
Do not use anything in the Pixtral family of models. Pixtral is a multi-modal model designed to process text and images. There is no support for image processing in AITiny. It'll cost you more, it will be slower, and you will see no benefit.

Alt text generation requires vision capabilities. As of August 2025, that's only provided by the Pixtral models. Using any other model will return a confusing error claiming the service is unavailable.
Text rewriting tasks –especially proofreading when no changes to the text take place– may return HTML source code instead of text in the editor despite the model being explicitly told not to do that.
