I would like to add that if the problem occurred right after installing Admin Tools, before using any of its features, then your site is most likely running on PHP 4. In this case just use FTP to find the file plugins/system/admintools.php and rename it to admintools-disable.php. Also find the file administrator/modules/mod_atjupgrade/mod_atjupgrade.php and rename it to mod_atjupgrade-disable.php. This will allow you to get access back to your site.

Then go to your site's back-end, Help, System Info and click on the PHP Information tab. Right on top you will see the PHP version. If it is 4.x.y, 5.0.x or 5.1.x then please ask your host to immediately upgrade the PHP version they are using on their servers. These versions are extremely old, they have reached end-of-life and have a lot of known security vulnerabilities which could potentially be used to compromise your site.

Thank you guys for your help...

My site is running on PHP 5.2.9(server apache, cgi )
I just realized that when I turn off sh404SEF "mode_rewrite", my site run perfect without .htaccess( index.php)

I have contact my host to ask them to check if the Admin Tools .htaccess file can run on their server setting.

Thank you Guys..

It's just a matter of trial and error. Admin Tools' .htaccess Maker adds a lot of .htaccess rules. Not all of them are compatible with all hosts. Please read the link slaes posted and I believe you will very quickly get it to work :)

  • I made a test...
I change the .htaccess file( made by admin tools) by my old .htaccess file and it seem work fine but I don't know if this solution is secure because this .htaccess is the standard .htaccess file.

Hi!

Using the standard .htaccess is not secure. You want to use Admin Tools' .htaccess Maker but -as I said above- not all of the default settings are compatible with all of the servers out there.

The proper way to determine which of those settings are compatible or not is -again, as I said above- trial and error. If you take a look at the documentation page of .htaccess Maker you will see a big red warning box which reads:

-----
Depending on your web server settings, some of these options may be incompatible with your site. In this case you will get a blank page or an Internal Server Error 500 error page when trying to access any part of your site. If this happens, you have to remove the .htaccess file from your site's root directory using an FTP application or the File Manager feature of your hosting control panel. Since Admin Tools 1.2, your old .htaccess file is saved as .htaccess.admintools. You can rename that file back to .htaccess to revert to the last known good state. If you are unsure how this works, please consult your host before trying to create a new .htaccess file using this tool.

Some prepackaged server environments, like WAMPserver, do not enable Apache's mod_rewrite module by default, which will always result in an Internal Server Error upon applying the .htaccess file. In this case you are strongly suggested to enable it. On WAMPserver you can click on its tray icon, go to Apache, Modules and make sure rewrite_module is checked. On other server environments you have to edit your httpd.conf file and make sure that the LoadModule mod_rewrite line is not commented out (there is no hash sign in front of it). Once you do either of these changes, you must restart your server for the change to become effective.

We strongly suggest that you begin by setting all options to No and then enable them one by one, creating a new .htaccess file after you have enabled each one of them. If you bump into a blank or error page you will know that the last option you tried is incompatible with your host. In that case, remove the .htaccess file, set the option to No and continue with the next one. Unfortunately, there is no other way than trial and error to deduct which options may be incompatible with your server.
-----

I hope that this information will help you to determine the perfect .htaccess for your site.

I would also recommend to turn on the Web Application Firewall (it's turned on by default when you install Admin Tools) as it offers yet another layer of protection, in fact much more sophisticated than just using the .htaccess Maker. Using the secure .htaccess generated by .htaccess Maker and the Web Application Firewall in tandem will harden your site adequately to deter the most common hacker attacks. It may take you 30-60 minutes to get it fully and properly configured but consider it an investment in time that you get back as soon as it fends off the next hacker attack (and the countless hours of pain and agony to restore your site to a working state that it will have saved you).

Hi!

You can just send me a Personal message with the following information:
- URL to site's administrator page
- Super Administrator username / password
- FTP connection information

This will allow me to do the .htaccess Maker tuning for you. No need to buy an extended subscription for something that simple; it's an overkill and I don't want you to think that I am trying to make a ton of money from you for something as easy as that :)
