Description of my issue:

I have WordPress for Joomla installed on my Admin Tools Pro protected Joomla! 1.7 site. This is not a bug report or complaint. This is a request for guidance.

With Admin Tools Pro not installed or disabled (main-disabled):
If I click the WordPress link on the Admin Extend Menu it simply takes me to the WordPress Dashboard.

MY QUESTION:
Admin Tools Pro is doing its job protecting my site. Is there a way to exclude WordPress from this backend protection?

Thanks for any assistance.

Since that software installs WordPress on a separate folder in your site's root, you have to add this directory to the list of directories where all files including php ones are allowed. If this doesn't work you may want to ask corePHP for any insight regarding the directory in which wp is installed.

my 2 cents as i've tested wordpress for joomla with little joy. Frankly it's a nightmare, for reasons not worth mentioning.

If i can suggest EasyBlog for joomla, It smashes it! With akeeba and ATP i consider it one of the best written components for J, and i dont think their are many! just my 2 cents.

NICHOLAS...

Ok, I entered com_wordpress in WAF Exceptions and that didn't help.
Just for testing purposes I entered options +indexes in .htaccess. Didn't help.
I then contacted corePHP. Their response was:

"Wordpress for Joomla is installed in /components/com_wordpress/ so Admin Tools will have to allow you to access that directory."

How do I allow Admin Tools to access that directory?
(NOTE: I'm learning as I encounter problems.)

Thanks

SLAES...

Wish I had received a post like yours before spending money on WordPress for Joomla!.

Thanks

Ok so you will need to do this:

Go into admin tools htaccess maker;

under the tab "Server Protection"

find "Allow direct access, except .php files, to these directories"
add: components/com_wordpress
save and give it a try.

If that doesnt solve you issues go back and add
components/com_wordpress
to
"Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories"
exceptions section. This should solve your issues.

Let me tell you mate, this aint ideal by no means, but you need a solution and i guess this is 1. You always need to be somewhat weary of extensions requiring these exceptions as very few are well written.

(if at some point EasyBlog is an option for you, i can assure you, you'll never look back. Joomla is joomla, wordpress is wordpress)

let us know how it goes.

slaes
sorry forgot to mention the obvious.

Make sure if you end up needing to add to the second exception, you remove it from the first, (may cause you dramas)

Yes, it's just like slaes said. You need to add that directory in that exceptions list, effectively allowing full access to the WordPress installation inside components/com_wordpress.

Gentlemen,

I decided to bite the bullet and go for EasyBlog. Wow, am I glad I did. I wish I had investigated EasyBlog before purchasing WordPress for Joomla. WordPress for Joomla is like forcing a square peg into a round hole. Although I got it to work, it was not intended to be.

Thanks for your help.

slaes
Your spot on with that assessment mate.

Personally i use EasyBlog all the time, hence recommended it. Glad it's all working out for you.
