Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (7.1)
PHP version: (5.2.17)
MySQL version: (5.1.58)
Host: (hostmonster)
Admin Tools version: (latest)

Description of my issue:
After installing akeeba Admin Tools Professional, immediately I could not log in on backend. The only thing I did after installing is that I clicked on "Fix Permissions". Other than that all settings are "as installed". I can see the login page alright. Pulling my hair out.

Sometimes it's something much easier than that. Try deleting your browser's cache and remove all cookies. Shut down the browser (if you're on a Mac use CMD-Q) and launch it again. Try accessing the back-end again.

If this doesn't work, use phpMyAdmin to delete the contents of your jos_session table (where jos_ is the database table name prefix on your site). Then repeat the steps above and you should be back in.

Please note that this is a Joomla! bug affecting Joomla! 1.6.0 Beta 1 up to and including 1.7.1 (which, I guess, is what you have?). It has to do with the session storage size being too small, causing all sorts of funky login and display problems especially after installing an extension. The bug was fixed in 1.7.2, so after you get back into your site, please upgrade to 1.7.2 a.s.a.p. (it also includes security fixes, so it's a good idea to upgrade anyway).

Well, today I managed to log in without doing anything. I guess the computer shutdown over the last 12hrs or so had the same effect on issues you pointed to.

However I am now getting the error [an error occured while processing this directive] when I try to enter front end or type my url in browser. yesterday I had no problem frontend at all even by the time I shutdown the PC.

The new error message has nothing to do with Admin Tools or Joomla!. The problem is with the .htaccess or the server configuration. I would recommend removing the current .htaccess from your site and use Joomla!'s default htaccess.txt (renamed to .htaccess) instead.
