Description of my issue:

I tried to use the Live Update from within the Admin Tools component to upgrade the version of admin tools on the website, but I get this error:


JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file

Invalid package type. The update can not proceed.


I have my download id in the parameters, but it doesn't upgrade.

Sorry, I just now found the post about reinstalling: https://www.akeebabackup.com/troubleshooter/atupdate.html

I suppose the install from within the component doesn't work.

If you want to upgrade from Admin Tools Core to Admin Tools Professional you have to do it manually.

If you want to update Admin Tools Professional to the latest release, it can be done from inside the component. However, the very first time you try to do and only if you had NOT entered the Download ID before getting an update notification you need to do some extra steps. Click on the UPDATE FOUND button. Then click on the Refresh Update Information. Now you can click on the Update Now button. This is required every time you change your Download ID so that Live Update can be notified about this change.
