Joomla! version: 1.7.3
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.91
Host: 1&1 Webhosting package
Admin Tools version: 2.2.a2

Description of my issue:

During a short check-up around gzip i recognized, that "x-content-encoded-by" give back "Joomla! 1.6"

Admin Tools is set to change x-content and x-powered... x-powered works fine...

and why 1.6?!?! :)

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance

By the way: 2.2.a2 works fine on different sites... no issues found

This is not fixable. Someone screwed up the JResponse::setHeader() sometime when the Joomla! Platform split from the Joomla! CMS and made it impossible to override this header. Unfortunately, I will have to remove that feature as it can not work on Joomla! 1.7.0 and later.

BTW, why "Joomla! 1.6"? Because that string is hard-coded in the Joomla! code :D

Ok, thank you for your support... so I have to search the code for it ;)

And it seams, that the JDeveloper are outpaced by there own development :) Will it be there in 2.5? :)

Joomla! 2.5 is just two weeks out. The X-Content-Encoded-By can not work because of a bug fix which modified how another bugfix works. Anyway, it's a little complicated :) Fixing the X-Content-Encoded-By would require to undo a bug fix, which is not a good idea.

That said, for the life of me, I have no freakin' clue why that header is there! It serves no purpose, it can be used for fingerprinting and can't be overridden.
