My joomla site has started is writing "\home\root" to front of the path of menu items when they are saved. It was suggested that the problem was in my .htaccess and that installing and running Admin Tools Pro and .htaccess maker would solve the problem, but it has not. Is this something that Admin Tools Pro should be able to fix or do you have another suggestion about what could be wrong?

Thanks!

Admin Tool's .htaccess Maker will set the RewriteBase setting in your .htaccess file. It is the "Folder" setting at the bottom of the screen. That is one thing that could be causing your issue.

The other thing to check is the $live_site setting in configuration.php. If it is blank, put your site url in it, beginning with the http:// or https:// but not including a trailing /. If it already has a path in it, make it an empty string (""). Generally when $live_site is wrong, you get a little more bizarre problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.

My live site was "" and so I changed it to the site name "http://sitename.com". After opening and saving a menu item (with no edits made) the path had "\home\root" added to the front of the normal path. I cleaned it out in phpmyadmin.

Then I checked the folder option in .htaccess Maker and found "\". I made that "" (empty) and rebuilt and saved .htaccess and had the same problem with the menu item path after opening and saving a menu item. No joy.

fwiw - The site is located in "home/accountname/public_html" on a Rochen server. The site was originally build in a sub-folder "home/accountname/public_html/dev" and was moved up when it was ready. I've done this a number of times without problems like this in the past.

Any other thoughts?

The backslash ( \ ) is wrong. You need a front slash ( / ) if you want to use the document root (most likely public_html).
