I've just created a new site, installed JCE Editor followed by Admin tools 7. All good up to that pointbut when I ran the wizard the css dissapeared from the default cassiopea tmplate in both front and back areas. Deleting the joomla installation did not fix this, only when I deleted the domain, deleted the old folder it had been installed in, created the domain again and installed Jooml again did I get the installation working again.

is this likely to be a leftover htaccess file?

Hello,

most likely there is a setting in the Htaccess Maker that is breaking the CSS, most likely is about the GZIP compression.

Please try again to create the .htaccess file, but this time remove the check from the option to compress the media files.

Hi David

Installed the component and ignored the 'not protecting' message, went straight to the 'create htaccess' and unchecked force gzip as you suggested. This time the css s still active so you seem to have hit the nail on the head - thanks. been having this problem with updating other sites to J4 so it's likely this is the same issue. :-)
