HKai

I have two problems with admin tools pro.

1) If I use the password protection of the administrator access, I need also this password and user in the frontend access.

2) I want to add some additional directories to use without .php file access but the plus sign behind the directories is not working. If I click on the sign nothing happens.

kind regards

Hello,

regarding the first issue, please take a look at this page of the docs: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/atadminpw.html

Long story short, there's an extension that is loading assets from the password protected folder, that's why you get the prompt. There's nothing we can do to fix this, you should get in touch with the developers of the extension and report the issue. In the meanwhile the only solution is to disable the password protection.

Regarding the second issue, it seems to be a Javascript issue. As first step, I'd suggest to install Akeeba Backup twice in a row without uninstalling it, so we're sure that every file has been copied. Then use your browser in incognito mode just to be sure to load the new files. If you still have the issue,  it means you are experiencing a Javascript issue. Most likely this is due to malformed or badly written Javascript code added to the pages of your site by a third party plugin.

In order to provide support for your problem we need to know the exact Javascript error that is thrown. For this reason we would like to ask your to please attach a screenshot of the Javascript console of your browser, taken immediately after triggering the issue you want us to help you with.

Here you can find a friendly reminder on how to open the Javascript console:

  • Chrome Press either CTRL + SHIFT + J (ALT + CMD + J under Mac) to open the "Console" tab of the Developer Tools.
  • Safari Press CTRL + ALT + I (ALT + CMD + C under Mac) to open the Web Inspector. Note: This works only if the "Show Develop menu in menu bar" check box in the Advanced tab of the Preferences menu is checked!
  • Firefox Press CTRL + SHIFT + K (ALT + CMD + K under Mac) then click on the "Console" tab

Please note that we need a screenshot, not a paste of the log text. We have determined that, in most cases, pasting the log text alters the sequence of the function calls, becoming useless for debugging purposes.

Thank you in advance for helping us help you!

The problem extensions I have now found and uninstalled.
But now I have another problem with my existing web page. On top of the control panel I see a message " Your server config file may need to be rebuilt". If I click on this message the config file is rebuilt. But if I clear the browser cache, the backend shows only the menu text without the web page template. I get the correct backend page only if I install the old .htaccess file.

kind regards
Harald

Most likely there is a path that is blocked by Admin Tools .htaccess file, so you have to create an exception to allow access to it.

Please take a look at this page of the docs for further info: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/server-protection.html#determine-required-exceptions
