Our website is very old and has passed through a number of hands over the years, and as a result there are a number of 404 errors that I've been systematically entering into the URL Redirection tool of Admin Tools.
I now have a few hundred redirects listed in there, and I expect many more to be entered in as I work through all the 404 errors.

So I guess my question was just a confirmation of if I'm using the redirection tool correctly. Is it normal to have several hundred redirects (from the many years of the lifespan of this website), and is there a better tool to manage so many?

I note that Admin Tools Redirect tool doesn't have a search function which is a bit of a bummer, because it would be nice to easily find an old redirect and change it to a more appropriate page - but currently sorting through several hundred redirects is a bit of a pain.

Hello,

yes, that's normal. If you can spot a pattern (ie everything from example.com/something/foobar should be redirected to example.com/foobar ) maybe it would be more efficient to create a redirection inside the .htaccess file using Custom rules in the Htaccess Maker. In that case everything would be faster since the redirect happens directly at webserver level, so even before that Joomla started to be loaded.
