I cannot get into the back end of my site.  I also cannot seem to get the site to lock me out or block my IP address ... so when I try to use the Emergency URL, all it does is take me back to the Admin Tools login. No matter what I put in for credentials, no matter how many times, it just keeps asking again and again.  I have read the documentation on how to change the file name of provider.php and that has had no impact whatsoever.

 

I need to get into my site so I can permanently disable this firewall.  No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to 'remember' the password I set up to log into the Admin Tools ... the last five to ten times I've logged into the back end of my site, I have had to do so through the emergency URL.  Now I can't even get that to work.

 

I am running Joomla 4.0.x and I'm not sure which version of Admin Tools I'm running because I can't get in to find out.

 

I am sorry I can't provide more details at the moment, but without access, I'm flying blind.  The site is fairly static and I don't log in constantly.. but when I do need to, I can't.

You need to delete the .htaccess and .htpasswd file in the administrator folder. Relevant documentation page: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/admin-tools-joomla/atadminpw.html

Kindly note that the administrator password protection is NOT implemented in PHP code. It is handled by your web server. Therefore neither renaming the provider.php file, nor using the Rescue URL will help you circumvent it. In your message you said that you were doing that in the past, but it was for something entirely different. You may want to check the Blocked Requests Log in Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall to understand why you are being blocked.
