Are you familiar with the issue with OVH and their CRON? The problem is that their CRON doesn't accept arguments, and there is no alternative, for example, I can't use a BASH script. I found a thread like

this:https://www.akeeba.com/support/akeeba-backup/36889-ovh-cron-failure-after-upgrade-joomla-4.html

However, it was from some time ago. Maybe something has changed in this matter, and you know the answer or have a suggestion on how to execute a CRON on OVH?

We had another ticket about that a few months ago. Unfortunately, there is still no way to create CRON jobs on OVH and they refuse to provide one, despite the fact that it's increasingly impossible to run a non-trivial site without setting up CRON jobs the past 15 years. They are happy to lose customers.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you use a different host.

I'm fighting with them to obtain this possibility. So far, I've received this shameless response: "You can also configure Cron on your own, but we won't provide support for it."
After a few additional email exchanges, I received another audacious response: "Unfortunately, if you come back with the same question, the ticket will remain closed."
If such a prominent service provider treats its customers this way, then let others know what the reality of using OVH services looks like. I hope you leave this thread public so that others can learn about the actual experience of working with OVH, unlike your team. Because even if a problem arises, you manage to solve it with the next update.
Best regards.

I'm afraid this is the typical OVH response based on what we've heard from other OVH clients when they ask about CRON jobs.

Reading between the lines, it would appear that you could set up CRON jobs using crontab -e over SSH, but that's a decidedly not user-friendly way of setting up CRON jobs. That's how I set CRON jobs on my servers. However, I'm not the typical hosting client. I am a developer, a systems administrator, and someone who's been using Linux for over 20 years. The whole point of buying a commercial hosting plan is that the host puts a nice interface on top of the underlying complexity so that clients who are not super technical can use it. If the OVH people think that CRON jobs are only for the super technical people, I think they've inhaled a lot of the toxic smoke that came out of their burning data centre a couple of years ago.

Not to put too fine a point, it would appear that OVH, unlike us as you said (and thank you for that!), just doesn't care about users who are not super technical. It looks like they have decided to focus on their (beleaguered and, um, occasionally self-immolating) cloud business which is only used by very technical people. It's a shame, really. They had started as one of the promising European hosts only to devolve into… that.

I will leave this ticket public, as you wish.

I've just received feedback from OVH. It's in my native language, but its full content translates to: "I kindly inform you that at OVH, there is no possibility to add an argument after the file name. Unfortunately, hosting services are shared, and there is no possibility of individual modification of Cron tasks according to your needs.

In this situation, I suggest considering changing the hosting provider if adding this argument is necessary for you."

Let users themselves assess the approach of this service provider.
Thank you very much for the work of your Akeeba team.
