Hi,

I have made a new site on a subdomain and used Akeeba backup to pack and upload and install the new site on the real domain.

But foirst the site just didn't work and complained that there were too many redirects.

I then renamed the .htaccess file to htaccess2.txt that made the site working again.

But I can't set up the SEF rewrite under globbal settings the the site stops working on all subpages.

So I tried to uininstall the Admin Tools packade and then reinstalled it again but it still won't work.

It seems like Admin Tools old version is still having configuiration files somewhere... so how can I solve this?

I have made a new site on a subdomain

There's your problem. I believe that your subdomain's web root folder is a subdirectory of your main site's web root folder.

The .htaccess files which tell Apache (your web server) how to serve your site, cascade. That is, Apache will read and process all .htaccess files in all folders on the server's filesystem leading to the one hosting your site's index.php file.Β

Since your subdomain's web root is a subdirectory of your main site this means that the main site's .htaccess file gets in the way of serving files from the subdomain.

This is the most common, entirely non-obvious, gotcha when using Apache. The solution is to use a directory above (next to) your main site's web root folder as the web root for your subdomain.

Ok seems like you are right but I still have no idea how to solve it.

You are totally right about that the subdomain is on the same server under /domains/demo.slangpress.se and /domains/slangpress.se .

But how can I get it working then?

Isn't it just to uninstall Admin Tools and reinstall it?

That though seem to be a real issue as the sytrem seem to remember that Amdin Tools has been there.Β

OK, this is not the case. Your subdomain is not inside the other domain. Both are under the /domains folder but NOT inside each other.

If you uninstall Admin Tools it does not leave anything behind as long as you uninstall the package extension (not just the component). Have you tried that?

If you still have problems after reinstalling and reconfiguring Admin Tools, follow the troubleshooting links which appear on the Quick Setup Wizard page and which are also emailed to you.
