After I made some changes in the .htaccess maker section I was notified that the file could not be written, but I should use the preview button to have access to the .htaccess file content. Unfortunately my backend does not provide a preview button. Please advise

Click the downwards pointing chevron on the right hand side of the "Save and create .htaccess" button. You will now see the "Preview" option.
