Hi,

I am preparing to upgrade my Joomla site from version 5 to version 6, and I want to resolve all potential issues beforehand to ensure a smooth transition.

Currently, I have an issue in the "Discover" area (attached screenshot). There are three Akeeba-related items showing up that I don't know how to resolve or clear. I have already tried using file_magiceraser-1.0.1, but unfortunately, it didn't help.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there any advice or a specific procedure I should follow to safely remove or resolve these Akeeba items before I proceed with the Joomla upgrade?

Thank you in advance for your help!

These three plugins showing up in Joomla's Discover are leftover files from older versions of our software that were designed exclusively for Joomla 3. They are no longer included in the current releases of Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools, but their directories were not removed from your site's filesystem during past upgrades.

Joomla's Discover correctly refuses to install them, as they require Joomla 4.999.999 or earlier (i.e. they are not compatible with Joomla 5).

To clear them, connect to your server via FTP/SFTP or your hosting control panel's file manager and delete the following three directories from your site root:

  • plugins/installer/admintools/
  • plugins/installer/akeebabackup/
  • plugins/system/akeebaextensionsversioncheck/

Once those directories are gone, running Discover again will show no items, and there will be no obstacle to your Joomla 5 → 6 upgrade.
