Dear Akeeba team,

I wanted to enable the feature “Password-protect Administrator” in Akeeba Admin Tools for my Joomla website. However, it seems to allow for only one user and password. I would like to add two users with different password. I guess this option is currently not available, is it? If not, could you maybe consider adding multiple users to this list as a low-priority feature request? I can jsut do it manually or via the hosting control panel. I’d just prefer doing it in Admin Tools. Thank you.

Kind regards
Thomas

This is not going to be implemented.

The idea here is NOT for each backend user to have their own username and password. It is for everyone to have the same username and password which they need to enter before they actually log into the site. This is not there to protect authorized users. It is to prevent unauthorized users form flooding your backend login form with authentication requests (credentials stuffing).

If you have a use case which requires a different username and password for each person or group of people you don't have to and shouldn't be using Admin Tools to manage this. You should instead be using your host's directory password protection feature which, as you might have guessed, works the exact same way. After all, this is a feature of the web server itself, not a feature in Admin Tools.
