The spinning/timeout when saving the Configure WAF or Global Configuration pages is a known issue caused by one of two things:
Step 1 — Disable email sending temporarily
Go to your site's Global Configuration → Server → Mail Settings and set Send Mail to No, then save. Now try saving the Configure WAF page again.
- If it saves successfully, your site's email sending configuration is the culprit. Review your mail settings and use the Send Test Email button in Global Configuration to confirm email delivery is working before re-enabling mail sending.
Step 2 — If disabling email didn't help: server-side blocking
If the above didn't resolve it, your host's server-side security (typically Apache's mod_security2) has a rule that mistakenly blocks the Configure WAF save request. Please contact IONOS support, explain that you are trying to save settings in your site's administrator area and that the request is being blocked. Tell them the URL displayed in your browser's address bar when the spinning occurs. They can either add an exception on their end or advise you on what to add to your .htaccess file to work around it.
