Joomla has gotten confused about whether and which version of Admin Tools is currently installed on your site. This typically happens when a site is restored — Joomla's internal extension recordkeeping in the #__schemas table is out of sync with the actual database tables.
Here is what to do:
Step 1 — Export Admin Tools' configuration (if it is currently accessible)
If you can access Admin Tools at all, export its configuration first so you can restore your settings afterwards.
Step 2 — Uninstall the Admin Tools package
- Go to System → Manage → Extensions.
- Expand the Filter Options panel.
- Under "— Select Type —" choose Package.
- In the search box type
Admin Tools package (exactly as shown) and click the magnifier icon.
- Select the result whose Type is listed as Package — this check is important.
- Click Actions → Uninstall. It is normal to see error messages printed; ignore them and proceed.
Step 3 — Install Admin Tools twice
Download the latest Admin Tools Professional package from your Downloads page and install it twice in a row, without uninstalling it in between.
Step 4 — Restore your configuration
If you exported your configuration in Step 1, you can now import it back.
