How does Frontend Protection handle files such as `sitemap.xml` or `favicon.ico`? If I understand correctly, these files would also be blocked by Frontend Protection.

In this case, it doesn't seem practical to place them in separate subdirectories. Is there no exception mechanism that can be configured for such files within Frontend Protection, or am I simply overlooking something?

Thanks

Your assumption about blocking is correct. Of course, there is a way to add exceptions – it's been there since the very first beta of Admin Tools released 16 years ago. As I describe in the documentation, you need to use the three options under "Exceptions from Server Protection":

  • Allow direct access to these files
  • Allow direct access, except .php files, to these directories
  • Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories

There is a documentation section to help you determine which exceptions you need to add as well.
