This is a well-known bug in Joomla. Whenever a database table column of type ENUM is updated, Joomla fails to determine if it's been updated or not. It is a very annoying visual issue but Joomla has not bothered to fix it in the last 10 years. I can't use the wrong field type (char or varchar) which wouldn't cause the visual bug as that would have a massive performance impact on your sites. Joomla should get a clue and fix that stupid bug. It's not hard. I could do it, but they've blocked me from contributing to the core. Apparently reporting bugs like that makes me difficult to work with. They'd rather I pretend their bugs don't exist.
