#9709 IE8 Asking for username and password

I have enabled admin password protect. when go to the frontpage of the website, it ask for username and password. It happens using IE8 safari and oppera. I have tried using FF and Chrome without any issue there.

I have also added the neccessary folder and file exceptions. The site is going live this freday and i need this fixed...anyone?

Are you by any chance using the Zoo CCK? Zoo and some other extensions try to load files stored in the administrator folder of your site even from the front-end. When the browser encounters that request, the administrator protection kicks in. There are two workarounds:
1. Do not use the administrator directory password protection
2. Tell the programmers of those extensions that, from a security perspective, accessing files in the administrator area from the front-end context is a fatal sin and they have to fix their software. Front-end and administrator back-end should be completely and absolutely isolated.
