Question: Do I have to enable the "Disallow" function in WAF in order to actually block the IPs I've added to the blacklist with the Exception Log? If so, is it really necessary to receive an email each time a blacklisted IP is successfully blocked?

I'm just not real clear on this feature.

I would really like to turn off the Disallow function in WAF if it's not doing anything but sending me emails and sending the visitors 403 exceptions instead of blank screens. If they're getting blocked anyway, what's the point, right?

Thanks.

Uh, oh. Are we in the No Support window? It's only May 4 in the US. I forget Nicholas is in Athens.

I am at the airport and have another 15 minutes before boarding, so here we go :)

You are referring to three distinct features:

1. Disallow access from IPs in black-list must be turned on for the black list to have any effect whatsoever.

2. The logging option controls whether to log the 403s or not.

3. There is the "Email this address on security exceptions" field. If you leave it blank, you will no longer be receiving emails about security exceptions, including IP blocks.

So you just have to leave the "Email this address on security exceptions" field blank to achieve what you want. I hope that makes sense!
