What are the security implications of using the Wordpress within Joomla extension that allows "the best of both worlds?"

Is Akeeba going to be able to backup and is AT Pro going to be able to protect such an environment?

Thanks for any responses.

Why would anyone want to use that abomination? It's always lagging 1-2 versions behind the current WordPress release, so it's a de facto vulnerable solution. And that's the tip of the iceberg.

Performance ranges from poor to downright impossible. Think about it: you run a CMS inside another CMS. Most Joomla! site integrators, trainers and developers jokingly refer to that solution as the "inception CMS". Trying to run a CMS in a CMS is dead slow.

Getting it to work is problematic and insecure. You will have to add WAF and .htaccess Maker exceptions to allow the WordPress part to work and you won't have any protection at all against hacking attacks on the WordPress part. If the WP part is hacked, you can safely assume that your entire site is hacked.

Instead of wasting your money on that joke of a solution, use one of the numerous free CCK or blog solutions. I personally use K2 for my personal blog and the news and documentation section of this site. Others have used FlexiContent, jSeblod, Zoo, SuperBlogger and other solutions with great success. Since all of these solutions are native Joomla! you get to enjoy full protection.

Do yourself a huge favour. Use a native solution. Performance and security are so much better.
